The Iberian High-Speed network places its trust in Englishpanish

Englishpanish has been officially awarded the contract for text translation and simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services for the activities of the European Economic Interest Grouping High-Speed Spain-Portugal (EEIG AVEP). This represents an important milestone for the company and reaffirms the value it brings to high-level multilingual communication projects.

The decision issued by the contracting authority states this clearly, noting that Englishpanish Translation & Communication® has met the required standards of economic, technical and professional solvency, as well as the award criteria. These criteria included a minimum number of translation and simultaneous interpreting services delivered in the Spanish–Portuguese and Portuguese–Spanish language combinations within the specific context of the railway sector over the past two years.

In this regard, Englishpanish has provided on-site simultaneous interpreting services in both countries, in Lisbon and Madrid, for national entities as well as European-level organisations. In addition, it has delivered remote simultaneous interpreting services for other countries, such as Australia.

It is also worth noting that the company has offices in both Spain and Portugal.

What is AVEP?

The European Economic Interest Grouping High-Speed Spain–Portugal (EEIG AVEP) is a transnational legal entity established in 2001 to plan, study and coordinate the construction of high-speed railway lines (AVE/TGV) between Spain and Portugal. This grouping serves as the main instrument of cooperation between the two countries for the development of Iberian rail connectivity.

AVEP’s corporate purpose is to carry out technical, functional and environmental impact studies, as well as to launch joint tenders for the development of the high-speed rail network, particularly in the cross-border sections.

It is composed of representatives from the infrastructure managers of both countries: Adif (Spain) and Infraestruturas de Portugal, S.A. (IP).

A contract that strengthens our mission

Since its foundation in 2010, Englishpanish has grown year after year around the purpose for which it was created: to facilitate spoken and written communication from English into all Iberian languages, and from all Iberian languages into English. Over time, the company has incorporated additional languages, reaching a total of 160 language combinations in its translation and interpreting services.

This award will enable the company to continue delivering value in such a demanding environment as sustainable mobility and the railway sector, where terminological precision and operational reliability are essential.

This contract means that Englishpanish will be responsible for providing:

  • Translation services for technical, institutional and operational documents.
  • Simultaneous interpreting services for AVEP events, meetings and activities.
  • Non‑consecutive interpreting in contexts that require immediacy and precision.

All of this within a demanding professional framework, with quality standards aligned with the needs of the railway sector and sustainable mobility.

A tendering process that attests to our solvency

The award procedure was competitive and transparent. Following the withdrawal of the first tenderer, who did not meet the solvency requirements established by AVEP, the contracting authority applied the provisions of the Public Sector Contracts Act and requested documentation from the next ranked tenderer. Englishpanish submitted all documentation duly and on time, demonstrating technical solvency, professional capability and sufficient resources to undertake the contract.

For Englishpanish, this award is far more than a contract: it is a sign of confidence in our work, our methodology and our commitment to linguistic excellence. In this regard, the outcome of this tender demonstrates that Englishpanish is not merely a translation company: we are a strategic linguistic partner.

Among our strengths are sector‑specific expertise, a team of top‑level interpreters, technology and efficiency, our flexibility and support, as well as our commitment to excellence.

Looking ahead to the final part of 2026

Englishpanish is ready to support AVEP in all its activities over the next two years, providing clarity, precision and professionalism in every multilingual communication.

The company wishes to thank AVEP for its trust, as well as all the other individuals and organisations that continue to rely on Englishpanish for the translation of their documents and for the simultaneous or consecutive interpreting of their meetings and events.

We keep growing, we keep translating, we keep connecting.
